Every year the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO) organises a small ships race in Cowes to mark the end of the summer sailing season. As per RSP tradition, all four boats – Donald Searle, Rona II, Merrilyn and Lady Shona participated, with crew members chosen from 2016 Amory and Scott Award Holders.
Merrilyn, skippered by Charlie Clarke came third in class while Donald Searle came second, skippered by Nigel Sharp. Merrilyn was also awarded best dressed crew.
