We are thrilled to release dates for two voyages for people living with or recovering from ill mental health. The first voyage is for two nights and two days from the evening of 5th June – 7th of June. The second, longer voyage is for 5 days from the evening of September 3rd the afternoon of 8th September.
The Rona Sailing Project (RSP) has been running sailing for mental health voyages for many years. The voyages have been an opportunity for us to learn about and try to understand just some of the problems, emotions, and challenges that people living with mental ill health have to cope with. We have also seen the difference Sailing for Mental Health with the RSP can make to people’s lives.
Many people have tried to analyse the benefits of Sail Training to people with mental health issues. It can be summed up in four words, a Sail Training Voyage gives people Community, Support, Direction, and Achievement. The four basic elements that many people often suffer from the lack of and the RSP adds a good dose of safety and a lot of FUN.
Sail training allows people with or without mental health problems to make friends, to build confidence and learn new skills. Sometimes a sailing voyage helps people to see things from a different perspective and we aim to help with that. If you think that you or someone you know no matter what their circumstances would like to try sailing for mental health, please get in contact with Adrian adrian_sailing@hotmail.co.uk who will be very happy to tell you all about it, if the voyage is suitable for you and how to join. Alternatively, please call the office on 01489 885098.
The short voyage costs only £125 and the second, longer voyage costs only £220. All food, fuel, berthing and the use of safety equipment is included. Both voyages are suitable for anyone living with or recovering from ill mental health, and no previous sailing experience is necessary! Please contact us for yourself or on behalf of someone else.
